1. What are the common reasons for African-American textured hair breakage?

A few common reasons for breakage include heat damage, chemical damage, and lack of moisture which minimizes the strength of your curls which results in breakage.

2. How often do you need to wash your hair?

The frequency that you wash your is based upon you. If you use a lot of products then you will probably encounter build-up within your scalp that should be washed frequently. Washing your hair once a week should be sufficient. If you experience dryness, washing your hair could add to the dryness as well.

3. What are the three types of African American hair?

It ranges from type 2-4 regarding the subcategories A, B, C. Type 2 hair consists of wavy hair, type 3 consist of loose curls to corkscrew curls and type 4 consists of kinky hair. These hair types will often have their own characteristic qualities which can be helpful in understanding you type of hair.

6. What is the difference between a lace front and a wig? 

A lace front wig is made with a thin material that produces a natural look. Lace fronts are very compatible and can be parted any way that you would like. Wig's can be made with human hair or synthetic hair. With a wig there is already a preformed style and the material that the wig is made of isn't as breathable or interchangeable.

7. How long can you keep in weave?

Weaves should be worn for two months maximum. You should shampoo your wig once every week or once every two weeks. After two months of wearing the weave, it should be removed so that your hair will not get matted and also to prevent breakage.

8. How do I know if and when I have heat damage?

Natural hair and relaxed hair have different signs of heat damage. With relaxed hair, that particular hair will not be able to maintain a curl which will also be dried and brittle. With natural hair, you will know when the hair is straight which means that it has lost its curly form. Ultimately, the curl pattern will be lost in natural hair.

9. What signs should I look for if your hair is completely damaged?

Excessive shedding and dryness are the initial signs of complete hair damage. To remedy that issue, you can trim it which will help restore your hair.
